Help catch Boko Haram leader, Abu Shekau, get ₦1.4 Billion - US
The United States is still maintaining the $7 million (N1.4 billion) bounty it placed on the leader of the Islamic sect, Boko Haram.
The US Department of State on Wednesday issued a list of 71 most-wanted terrorists in the world with bounties totalling $375m (N74.6bn) as “rewards for information that leads to (their) arrest or conviction.”
Rewards for Justice, a State Department’s anti-terrorism programme, had first offered the amount as a reward to persons with information on the whereabouts of the Boko Haram leader in June 2013.
The President Barack Obama-led administration, in the fresh list, placed a whopping $25 million, the single largest bounty, on Ayman al-Zawahiri, suspected to be one of the doctors and advisors to Osama bin Laden, the late leader of al-Qaeda.
Al-Zawahiri is suspected to have played a role in bombing of the US embassy in 1998.
Four Islamic State terrorists appeared on the list with a total of $20 million bounty on them.
They were Abd al-Rahman Mustafa al-Qaduli ($7 million); IS’s official spokesman, Abu Mohammed al-Adnani ($5 million); Tarkhan Tayumurazovich Batirashvili alias ‘Omar the Chechen’ ($5 million); and Tariq Bin-al-Tahar Bin al Falih al-’Awni al-Harzi ($3 million).
A senior leader of the IS, Abu Du’a alias Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi; and al-Zawahiri’s deputy and self-proclaimed leader of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, Nasir al-Wahishi, and four others had $10 million bounty placed on each of them.
Shekau was among the three with $7 million bounty. Others were a senior leader of al-Qaeda in Iran, Muhsin al-Fadhli; and Abd al-Rahman Mustafa al-Qaduli.
Forty six terrorists had $5 million placed on each of them. They include a founder of Harakat Shabaab al-Mujahidin and a senior leader in al-Shabaab, Ibrahim Haji Jama; an expert in chemical weapons and explosives in al-Qaeda, Ali Sayyid Muhamed Mustafa al-Bakri; and the Operational Commander of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, Othman al-Ghamdi.
Eleven terrorists, including only two women on the list, have a $3 million on each of them. The women, Zerrin Sari and Seher Demir Sen, are members of a Turkish military/political party and the terrorist group, Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party/Front.
The second in command of a radical Ahl-e-Hadith Islamist organisation, Lashkar-e-Tayyiba, Hafiz Abdul Rahman Makki; and an explosives expert in the Hezb-e Islami Gulbuddin group, Abdullah Nowbahar, have a $2 million bounty on each of them.
With a $1 million bounty each were a senior leader of the Abu Sayyaf group based in Philippines, Radullan Sahiron; and an explosives expert in the Abu Sayyaf and the Jemaah Islamiyah terrorist organisations, both in the Philippines, Abdul Basit Usman.

SHOCKING: South African man raped at gun point by 3 women so they could steal his sperm
A man was kidnapped at gunpoint and raped by three women who collected his semen in a cool box and stealing it before abandoning their victim - and the method is part of a growing trend.
The 33-year-old man gave the women directions when they pulled up in a black BMW. Suddenly, one of the women armed with a gun got out and forced him into the back of the car at gunpoint.
The trio then drove him 500km away and fondled him in the back of the car but he did not become aroused, so they forced him to drink an 'unknown substance' from a bottle to aid him.
The women raped the man repeatedly and collected his semen in plastic bags, placing them in a cooler box
The man was picked up in the Kwazakhele township, Port Elizabeth, and dropped off later, 500km away
The man was then kicked out of the car, 500 km away from where they picked him up in the Kwazakhele township, Port Elizabeth, and made off with the stolen sperm.
The exact same method is being used by women in Gauteng, who are also forcing men to drink from a bottle and stealing their semen but no arrests have been made.
Constable Mncedi Mbombo said: 'As he was busy pointing out the directions, one lady came out and pointed a gun at him and forced him into the car,' reports Sowetan Live.
'They drove into a thoroughfare 500km away. They parked the car and fondled him to get an erection but his penis could not get erect.
'They then forced him to drink an unknown substance from a bottle. This got him aroused quickly even though he was still scared and didn't want to have sex.
'This is really confusing to us because we have never heard of such a thing before. The man was fully conscious throughout his ordeal and he is still traumatised.'
Police have now opened a rape investigation.

DNA shows that TWINS have different fathers
A paternity case involving a set of twins had a surprise ending worthy of a daytime TV talk show: The girls have different dads.
A judge ruled on
Monday in a paternity case that the man from whom the twins' mother
sought child support has to pay for only one of the children. A DNA test
showed that he was almost certainly the father of one twin but wasn't
the father of the other.
It's rare
for a woman to give birth to twins with different fathers. Passaic
County Superior Court Judge Sohail Mohammad wrote in his opinion that he
found two other court cases nationally on such matters.
It can happen when the woman has sexual intercourse with two men in the
same menstrual cycle and two of her eggs are fertilized separately by
each man.
The case came to light
when a Passaic County woman sought child support payments from a man she
thought was the father of her daughters, who were born in January 2013.
The DNA test was conducted.
In court testimony, the mother said she had sex with both men in a span of about a week.
The judge ruled that the man owes $28 per week.

Driver, conductor uses excreta to battle policemen in Imo
An Imo State based commercial bus driver and his conductor caused a stir at the popular Control Post, adjacent the Maria Assumpta Catholic Cathedral, Owerri, the state capital, when they took on some 'errant' police officers using some strange weapons: faeces, attacking the officers by throwing the human waste at them.
According to eyewitnesses, the policemen at the Post had flagged down the bus as the driver was driving recklessly.
This was seen as an affront by the driver who became rude to the officers and one of the police men reportedly slapped him. The driver retaliated and a fight ensued, attracting other police officers around to come to the aid of their colleague who all joined hands to beat up the driver and his conductor.
This is how a witness narrated the show of shame:
"After the policeman gave the driver a slap, the driver retaliated immediately and they began fighting.
The policeman's colleagues rushed down to the place and gave the driver and his conductor severe beating, tearing their clothes in the process, almost leaving them naked.
The drama took a different shape when the duo pulled off what remained of their torn trousers, defecated, scooped the faeces with their hands and splashed the mess on the faces of some of the policemen.
This strange act forced every person around the scene, including the policemen, to scamper for safety, while the battered driver and his conductor were scavenging for more faeces to further pelt their attackers with.
As the confusion continued, the driver and his conductor quickly jumped into their vehicle and disappeared before other security teams arrived."

Man attacked by 7 dogs given N30,000 in Lagos
A commercial bus driver, Saturday Akpomose, who was attacked by seven dogs at Ajah area of Lagos State, has received N30,000 and a job offer from the owner of the dogs.
However, his family members expressed anger when they heard that Akpomose collected money from the dogs’ owner, who is a soldier.
Vanguard learned that the victim, who was admitted at Akodo General Hospital after the attack, was discharged on Friday, May 1, after about eleven days.
It was gathered that before the victim was discharged from the hospital, he demanded N5 million compensation from the soldier, but was persuaded and later given N30,000 to take care of himself, while a bag of rice and beverages were also given to his wife.

He said: “I believe you saw all the injuries on my body. They have not healed completely. I collected the money from him because I am not a troublesome person. I have left everything to God.
FRSC: "We will introduce card reader to detect fake driving licence"
The Head, Administration and Human Resources, Federal Road Safety Commission, Ogun State Sector Command, Mr. Steve Ayodele, has said the commission will soon introduce card reader to detect fake driving licence.
He said this on Thursday at Kuto Motor Park, Abeokuta, during a sensitisation programme for commercial drivers in the state.
The FRSC organised the programme in partnership with CLEEN Foundation.
Ayodele said the card reader would be given to their officials carrying out routine checks on the roads, the police and banks.
He said, “The FRSC will soon introduce a small machine that will detect fake driving licence.
“The machine is like the card reader used by the Independent National Electoral Commission during the 2015 general elections.
“It will soon be introduced. The machines would be given to our officials, carrying out routine check on the road, law enforcement agencies like the police and the banks. Once the driving licence is slotted into the machine, it will show whether it is fake or genuine.”
Ayodele, who advised the commercial drivers not to patronise touts when trying to procure driving licence or renewing expired ones, said the official fee payable was N6,350.
He explained that in order to solve the bottlenecks associated with the procurement of driving licence in the state, four more centres would be opened soon.
The Research and Planning officer, CLEEN Foundation, Mr. Raphael Mbaegbu, said the organisation was committed to stopping the corruption which had crept into the process of issuance of driving licence across the country, hence the need to sensitise the motorists on doing what is right.
He said, “We have discovered there is a level of corruption in the issuance of the driving licence across the country.
“So, we have decided to organise this programme, in conjunction with the FRSC, to sensitise motorists who want to obtain driving licence or renew expired one, to follow the right channel. This is to ensure they do not patronise touts who will only get them fake driving licence.”

Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote wants to buy Arsenal FC
Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has expressed interest in becoming the owner of English Premier League giants, Arsenal FC.
But the plan to buy the North London club is not an immediate priority for the Nigerian billionaire, as he hopes he can convince the owners to sell “at the right price” in the future, supersport.com says.
The Nigerian said he is ready to offer Arsenal owners “a price they won’t want to resist.”
“I still hope, one day at the right price, that I’ll buy the team. I might buy it, not at a ridiculous price but a price that the owners won’t want to resist. I know my strategy,” supersport.com quoted Dangote as saying to Bloomberg.
Dangote, who is a tycoon dealing in cement and commodities, explained that he wants to focus on his business having invested around $16 billion into it, and will make another attempt at pricing Arsenal away by the time he builds his business empire to “a certain level.”
“We have $16 billion-worth of investments in the next few years. Right now I want to take my own business to a certain level. Once I finish on that trajectory, then maybe [an offer will follow.]”
In 2010, Dangote made attempts to acquire a stake in the English club but discussions broke down.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Dangote is worth three times more than the current major shareholder at Arsenal, Stan Kroenke.
Kroenke, who holds 67 percent of Arsenal, is reportedly worth $5.6 billion while Dangote is valued at $15.7 billion.
But Dangote will have to convince Kroenke to give up his 67 percent shares in the club as well as 30 percent owned by Red and White Sec Limited under the control of Uzbek billionaire Alisher Usmanov and Farhad Moshiri.

Second patient fitted with artificial heart dies
The second patient to have received an artificial heart made by French firm Carmat has died, nine months after being fitted with the device, the company announced Monday.
The 69-year-old passed away on Saturday afternoon, May 2, Carmat said in a press release, confirming reports by French newspaper Libération.
He had been hospitalised the day before with circulatory failure, said the company. An operation was carried out to fit a new prosthetic heart on Saturday, but he suffered terminal post-operative complications.
Carmat said it was analysing data from the artificial heart to establish the exact cause of death.
The patient, who had chosen to remain anonymous, was fitted with the artificial heart on August 5 last year in an operation in the city of Nantes in western France.
The first person to receive a Carmat heart, Claude Dany, died in March last year, 74 days after his operation.
Artificial hearts are not new. But the Carmat device differs in that it aims to give patients a longer-term alternative to existing technologies, while enabling patients to resume an almost normal day-to-day life.
The device is a self-contained unit implanted in the patient’s chest. It uses soft “biomaterials” and an array of sensors to mimic the contractions of the heart, with the aim of reducing the risk of blood clots and rejection by the immune system.
The patient wears a belt of lithium batteries to power it.
Last week, Carmat announced a third patient had received an artificial heart in an operation carried out at a hospital in Paris on April 8.

214 girls rescued from Boko Haram, pregnant – UNFPA
The latest rescue of additional 234 women and children by the Nigerian Army from the Sambisa Forest in Borno State, indicated, yesterday, that a sizeable number of the rescued girls were visibly pregnant, even as unofficial reports put the latest number of pregnant girls in one of the camps in Borno as at last Saturday at 214.
Giving this indication in Lagos, Executive Director, UNFPA, Prof. Babatunde Osotimehin, also disclosed that in the last one year, the organization had taken deliveries of over 16,000 pregnancies in the troubled North East part of the country.
Osotimehin, while giving update of the response to the rehabilitation of the rescued women and children, said the organization, in anticipation of the magnitude of the problem on hand, had put in place a formidable team in collaboration with the Federal and state governments, to first restore the dignity of the girls, who, he said, are facing severe psychosocial trauma.
On the state of the girls, he explained that most of them, due to the long period spent in captivity, required a special set of services that would facilitate their integration into society.
“What we found is that some of the women and girls that have come back actually have much more in terms of the stress they have faced, so the counselling has to be more intense and working with them one-on-one.
“I’m glad the communities are not excommunicating them and are taking them back. That is an important therapy too. We anticipate this is going to escalate because the military intervention is continuing, we find that more people are now needing our services and we will continue,” he stated.
Further, he explained that the UNFPA had earlier collaborated with the Federal and state governments to train 60 counsellors to offer psychosocial services to the affected women and children. He noted that those trained were people from the communities, who understand the context and sociology of the people.
“UNFPA is providing dignity for women. In conflict and disasters, most people would only think of water and sanitation, provision of tents and housing, and food, which are all important. But women and girls have specific needs that nobody else looks after; it is only UNFPA that is doing this. We are giving psychosocial counselling.
“Beyond that, in the growing young people, we will always have pregnant women, but nobody segregates the needs of the pregnant women which are very important and different from the needs of the average community. We look after them, and ensure they get antenatal care and that they deliver properly and that they even get Caesarean Section when necessary.
